About the Janus DUI Program

At Janus of Santa Cruz, our mission is to provide effective driver education and counseling services to prevent future drinking and driving.

Supportive Staff

Our specially trained DUI staff give participants the opportunity to explore what prompts them to place themselves in harm’s way—and learn how to avoid this behavior in the future.

Quality, Evidence-Based DUI Education

Janus DUI facilitates an engaging and cutting-edge education curriculum called Interactive Journaling, which was developed by The Change Companies. This evidence-based practice (EBP) gives our participants a tool for engagement and uses motivational interviewing techniques by clinicians to evoke change in participant behavior. This EBP also uses the Cognitive-Behavioral approach in practicing skills, goal setting, and journaling.

This curriculum meets the ASAM 0.5 Level of Care: Early Intervention requirements and allows impaired drivers to become educated on the risks to the community while finding healthy behavior solutions for themselves that will benefit their lives using person-centered care.

Interactive Journaling

Interactive Journaling for impaired drivers focuses on stages of change, expressive writing, and the transtheoretical model of change. The journals have questions for the participants to consider options regarding behavior change and a timeline for achieving their goals. On average, individuals who participate in Interactive Journaling for impaired drivers have a significantly lower recidivism rate than traditional DUI programs.

State-Accredited DUI Program

Janus of Santa Cruz is proud to be a DUI program licensed by the State Department of Health Care Services. This accreditation reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in our educational and counseling services.
